Put a workout on your watch

Three steps, no Garmin Connect required. You’ll need the watch, its charging cable, and the .FIT file you downloaded from the builder.

Get it on the watch

  1. Plug the watch in via USB

Use the charging cable. macOS can’t browse the watch on its own, and Garmin Express won’t show you the files — install OpenMTP (free, open source) and the watch appears there.

  2. Open the GARMIN/Workouts folder

In OpenMTP, open the GARMIN folder, then Workouts. On some devices the folder is GARMIN/NewFiles — if you don’t see Workouts, use that instead.

  3. Copy the .fit file in and unplug

Drag the downloaded file into the folder, then disconnect and unplug. On the watch, find it under Training › Workouts in the Strength activity.
